Terroir

Domaine les Chagnasses is a small holding of 2 hectares placed in extension of the Pomerol plateau and is divided into several plots. The soils are thus once sandy loam in Lalande de Pomerol sometimes gravelly-loamy in Néac with traces of iron dross. This richness of the soils makes it possible to obtain, despite the surface, a range of different results depending on the final blend chosen.

° Surface: 2H04

° Planting density: 6000 vines / hectare

° Average age of the vines: 35 years

Culture mode

We have chosen to accompany our vines in "reasoned culture". That is to say that we deal with products used in organic farming but do not hesitate to care for and treat our vineyard with curative products if it is sick.

Grape variety

The grape varieties planted are mostly Merlot (80%), a traditional grape variety from the region, and Cabernet Franc (20%). Strolling through the rows of vines in early spring, you can recognize a few rare Cabernet Sauvigon vines.

The characteristic of Merlot is to bring roundness and harmony to the wine, while Cabernet Franc complements the flavors with fruity, tannic and tart notes. On this last point the reasoned acidity allows better conservation of the wines over time.
